Scholarship Selection Criteria

TALENT/SKILLS DEMONSTRATION & INTERVIEW
Each applicant must submit a sample of their talent/skills with a completed application. The committee will review qualified applications and conduct live interviews and auditions with selected finalists.

ACADEMICS
We value an applicant’s commitment to their education. With this in mind, the committee will consider all aspects of the applicant’s academic performance to date, including grade point average, extra-curricular club participation, honors, and awards. The committee will also take into consideration any unique hardships, obstacles, or challenges that students may have overcome in their lives.

ESSAY
Each applicant is required to submit a short essay of up to 600 words in length that addresses the questions, “How has your involvement in the performing arts influenced your personal growth, and how do you plan to use your passion and skills to make an impact on your community or the world?” Each committee member will independently evaluate and score essays based on technical writing (grammar, syntax) and content.

SERVICE
The LPACF believes strongly in the value of community service. Each application includes a section to highlight those areas of service in the applicant’s life.

NEED
The committee may also consider the financial need of applicants in an effort to change the lives of students who otherwise would not have opportunities to pursue an education in performing arts.
